I was looking around for some new moose puzzles, and came across some sites selling moose-themed jigsaw puzzles. Here are a couple of fun ones. I have no connection to any of these vendors; I just came across their websites and thought the products looked like fun.

Animal Den has had a wood puzzle for young kids. Looks like about 25 pieces, and it's a simple but not cartoonish design. (This is the puzzle that's pictured in this post.) They also have lots of other moose-themed products, so check them out if you're looking for gift ideas for the moose fan in your life.

Mrs. Moose Jigsaw Puzzles also has a moose puzzle that looks like fun. This is especially neat because you can order it at various difficulty levels from 9 pieces to 308 pieces. What a great idea!

If you're looking for a free online jigsaw puzzle, check out the moose puzzle at JigZone.com. This one allows you to change the shape and quantity of the pieces, so you can keep it simple or make it challenging. Enjoy!

Close encounters

I've never seen people in the moose cam before, so I found this interesting.

I also just came across this Yankee magazine article about a too-close encounter with moose, specifically someone who joined "the drivers-who've-hit-a-moose-in-a-vehicle club." He joined in New England, but writes that car-moose collisions are a big problem in Sweden, where automobile engineers have developed a moose crash-test dummy. It's a fascinating article, whether you're interested in the engineering or simply looking for ways to stay safe by not colliding with moose.

Connecticut Moose

Only one moose in the moose cam today, but isn't it a beauty?

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection has a section for kids. It includes a page with some fun facts on moose. (I've heard of Huskies in Connecticut, but who knew there are moose there?)

Seeing Moose in Maine

Okay, these are just too cool not to share! Both are from the Yankee Magazine website (as is the photo on this post).  (image no longer available)
Moose in Maine: Where Are They? is exactly that--where to find moose in Maine.
Maine's Moose Country describes the three stages of comprehension when one sees a moose in the wild. There are moose spotting tips and some facts about moose. Enjoy the article and anticipate "that third stage of comprehension -- appreciating the moose in all its mooseyness."

Moose Cam on the Blink

Looks as though there are some technical difficulties with the Moose Cam. We link to it and have no control over it, so we'll just keep an eye on the feed and see if it comes back. In the meantime, check out the other links in previous posts.

Check Out the Moose Web Cam!

Have you seen the moose web cam on this page? (Look toward the lower right part of this page.) We're getting the feed from Moose Garden, which is in Sweden. Because of the difference in time zones, the image is often dark when I look at it. If you're in the United States, check it out in the morning and maybe you'll catch a real-time glimpse of live moose.

Loose the Moose

"You find yourself dropped in a strange room once more, but are you smart enough this time to open the door..."

Loose the Moose is an "escape the room" game. It's a challenging logic puzzle, and it's lots of fun. Enjoy!

New Hampshire Moose Parade

Here's something a little different. Have you heard about the New Hampshire Moose Parade?

The moose are decorated by art students, and each moose has a different theme. Check them out here . I'm partial to the Wild Moose Chase, of course, but there are many other designs that I really like, as well.

Time for Christmas cookies!

Here at Wild Moose headquarters, we're busy baking cookies for Christmas. So naturally we went online in search of moose-related cookies.

We found these adorable Ginger Moose cookies from Rebecca Russell.

These "cocoa-rich, intense" moose-dropping cookies aren't quite as adorable (and the title on the original recipe isn't, either), but the recipe sounds delicious.

Cabela's sells this cute moose cookie jar to store all those cookies.

Enjoy!

How to Draw a Moose

This page has step-by-step instructions on how to draw a moose.

The page also has some ads. I didn't see anything offensive, but, parents, please preview the site in case something changes after I post the link.

Match the Juice Moose and his friends

We have two links for today--an online game and a hands-on project.

First is a memory game (Concentration) in which you match cards featuring AJ the Juice Moose and his friends. It's from the American Fruit Processors, and the game is here.

Then, in the spirit of the holidays, here's a FamilyFun project for edible Christmas decorations. Mm-moose is made of cookies and candies, and you can even build a winter wonderland to surround him.

Moose facts and fun

Two links for today!

National Geographic has lots of facts about moose, including a printable fact sheet and an audio clip (see the Multimedia area) in which you can hear a moose.

And, just for fun, here's a link for Moose Tracks ice cream. It's inspired by moose ... it's ice cream ... what could be better than that? I think my favorite would have to be Extreme Moose Tracks. Which flavor looks best to you?
